The Institute of Bio-inspired Structure and Surface Engineering, College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA), led by Prof. Dr. Zhendong Dai, embarked on a journey of knowledge exchange as they visited the prestigious lab at Vidyasirimedhi Institute of Science and Technology (VISTEC) on July 19, 2023.
NUAA’s delegation, comprising Prof. Dr. Zhendong Dai and his team of talented researchers and engineers, were warmly welcomed at VISTEC. The visit aimed to foster international collaboration in the field of robotics and showcased cutting-edge research conducted at VISTEC’s state-of-the-art lab.
VISTEC, located within the Eastern Economic Corridor of Innovation (EECI) area, provided a conducive environment for the exchange of ideas and expertise. The research center houses expert professors and academics, offering a rich ecosystem for both research and education. Institutions like PTIC and KVIS in the EECI area complement VISTEC’s commitment to advancing scientific knowledge and technological innovation.
The NUAA delegation was guided through the lab’s impressive exhibits by Ph.D. Vatsanai, a prominent robotics researcher at VISTEC. Vatsanai passionately introduced the guests to the “7 Wonders of Robotics,” representing seven distinct areas of cutting-edge research undertaken at the facility.
- Soft Robotics: Naris, an accomplished Ph.D. researcher in Robotics at VISTEC, demonstrated the lab’s advancements in soft robotics. With inspiration drawn from nature, soft robots have the potential to revolutionize various industries, including healthcare and human-robot interactions.
- Industrial Robotics: Atthanat, a talented and innovative research engineer at VISTEC, showcased the lab’s work in industrial robotics. These robots are at the forefront of automation, increasing efficiency and productivity in manufacturing processes.
- Medical Robotics: Natchaya, a skilled and knowledgeable research engineer specializing in medical robotics, presented the lab’s contributions to the healthcare sector. Medical robots are expected to enhance surgical precision, diagnostics, and overall patient care.
- Quadruped Robots: In the area of bio-inspired robotics, Run, a creative and skilled research engineer, demonstrated quadruped robots that emulate the agility and adaptability of animals. These robots hold promise for applications in challenging terrains and disaster relief scenarios.
The visit not only strengthened the bonds between NUAA and VISTEC but also laid the groundwork for future collaborations in robotics research. Both institutions expressed their enthusiasm for joint projects, aiming to push the boundaries of robotics technology for the betterment of society.
Prof. Dr. Zhendong Dai and his team from NUAA expressed their gratitude for the warm reception and insightful tour of the VISTEC lab. They commended VISTEC’s commitment to innovation and research excellence and expressed their eagerness to build on this partnership in the pursuit of groundbreaking advancements in robotics.
The successful exchange marked a significant milestone in international cooperation between NUAA and VISTEC and set the stage for exciting developments in the field of robotics.
