Advanced Perception for ViSion-based Multiple Object Detection and Pose Estimation of a Lab ASsIStant RoboT (ASSIST)

The autonomous robotic system designed to aid laboratory experimenters encompasses a mobile robot with a manipulative arm (ARV) for versatile tasks, an advanced perception system (VISTEC) employing a wrist-mounted depth camera for precise object detection, a Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID)-based setup for localization and navigation (ARV) and a speech recognition system (VISAI) for effective user command interpretation. These components synergize to enable the robot to autonomously perform tasks including picking up and placing sample bottles, organizing experimental spaces, and responding to user instructions, addressing the demand for an integrated solution in laboratory environments.
