Between Monday 14th – Tuesday 15th March 2022, 34 students and staff from ten schools participated in the AI Academy Camp at Kamnoetvidya Science Academy School (KVIS) and Vidyasirimedhi Institute of Science and Technology (VISTEC). These schools included Rayongwityakhom Industrial Estate, Mabtaputphanpittayakarn, Banchangkarnchanakulwittaya, Huayyang Suksa, Wangchanwittaya, Chumkhorpittayakom, Khao Chamaowittaya, Watpapradoo, Rayongwittayakom and Suankularb Wittayalai Chon Buri. On Tuesday, students and staffs participated in three activities at the Makerspace of the BRAIN lab. The activities were divided as follows:
- Mobile robot: Students gained insights into different types of mobile robots, including wheeled robots (Turtlebot), legged robots (e.g., Dung Beetle), and drones. Students learned the advantages and disadvantages of each type of robot, and some of their functions such as SLAM navigation.
- Vision: Students learned how machine learning is used to differentiate objects, specifically apples, and stones, by taking part in training the classifier. They gained knowledge on how different features of apples and stones affect the classifier’s performance.
- Soft robotics: Students observed the role of soft robotics in enhancing the performance of robots such as the robotics arms. They were shown the differences between soft grippers on robotic arms compared to other types of grippers.
