Research Talk Recap: Bioinspired Robotics by Assoc. Prof. Ki-Young Song

The Information Science and Technology (IST) faculty at VISTEC extends a special thanks to Associate Professor Ki-Young Song from Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University for his engaging research talk today (Tuesday, August 5, 2025).

The presentation provided a fascinating overview of his work, exploring the intersection of advanced manufacturing and robotics. Professor Song’s talk delved into concepts such as bio-inspiration and soft robotics, using the human gait cycle as a key example. He also highlighted how 3D printed models are essential tools for this research, and how powerful AI, including Quadratic CNNs, is used to bring these innovative designs to life.

It was an excellent discussion on the future of robotics. We thank Professor Song for sharing his expertise with our community.
