Visiting Bio-inspired Robotics Lab at NII, Japan

Today, Prof. Poramate Manoonpong visited the laboratory of Assist. Prof. Shunsuke Shigaki, affiliated with the National Institute of Informatics (NII) in Tokyo, Japan. The lab is located at the Kanagawa Institute of Technology IT Extension Center in Kanagawa, Japan.

The visit underscores the ongoing collaboration between VISTEC and NII, facilitated by an MOU Grant that supports research exchange programs. Dr. Jettanan Homchanthanakul, a Postdoctoral researcher from VISTEC, is currently serving as a visiting researcher in Assist. Prof. Shigaki’s lab under this grant.

Assist. Prof. Shigaki’s lab specializes in Bio-inspired Robotics, focusing particularly on odor-driven navigation systems. The research involves studying organisms like silk moths to develop advanced robotic technologies that mimic biological navigation using olfactory cues.
