Rodolfo ‘Lian‘ Paderon, a talented Filipino student from Robotics and AI Engineering, at Chulalongkorn University in Thailand, has concluded his international internship program at IST, VISTEC on a high note. Under expert guidance, Lian improved robotic arm technology by developing a remarkable soft finger for the Kinova Jaco arm. Employing 3D printing and a single string-motor mechanism, the simple yet versatile finger can grasp objects of various shapes and sizes with unparalleled precision.
Throughout his internship, Lian demonstrated unwavering dedication and meticulousness, tirelessly iterating his design to achieve the perfect soft finger. With crucial support from Prof. Poramate and Ph.D. Naris, Lian’s invention reached new heights and has the potential to transform multiple industries.
