Our recent work, “Insect Tarsus-Inspired Compliant Robotic Gripper With Soft Adhesive Pads for Versatile and Stable Object Grasping,” was selected for “Video Friday” on May 19, 2023, a weekly blog for awesome robot videos. In this study, we proposed INSECTER, a novel bio-inspired gripper. The gripping mechanism of the gripper is modelled after an insect’s tarsus. It is capable of successfully handling up to 35 objects of diverse sizes, shapes, and weights using just one actuator and a cable-driven mechanism.
