Administrative Court of Thailand Explores Robotics at IST

On April 22, 2025, a delegation from the Administrative Court of Thailand visited the Institute of Science and Technology (IST) for a guided tour of the Robotics Laboratory. The visit served as an opportunity to showcase research advancements and explore the intersection of technology and public service.

During the tour, the IST research team presented several bio-inspired robotic platforms, including the gecko robot, designed for agile climbing, and the stick insect robot, which demonstrates adaptive legged locomotion. These demonstrations highlighted the lab’s focus on integrating biology with robotics to create innovative and functional systems.

The delegation also visited VISTEC-GAIT, where researchers demonstrated the lab’s capabilities in gait analysis and system integration, featuring motion capture systems and a split-belt treadmill. The platform supports research in biomechanics, rehabilitation, and human–robot interaction, emphasizing how precise motion data contributes to the development of assistive technologies and robotic control systems.

The visit continued with a stop at the WAI room, where guests experienced an immersive virtual environment powered by projection mapping. The space illustrated how immersive technologies can be used to enhance interaction, simulation, and learning experiences.

The visit concluded with informal discussions, offering a platform for knowledge exchange and fostering future engagement between the research community and governmental institutions.
