11 Nov 2024 – School of Information Science and Technology (IST) goes beyond basic research by translating its discoverties into industrial capabilities through the Wangchan Advanced Industrial Labs (WAI) supported by Siam Commercial Bank (SCB). WAI specialize in creating intelligent “sense-think-act” machines for real-world and industrial applications. It also acts as an innovation hub, eabling close research coolaborations ad linkages between talented researchers and indstry.
On the occasion of VISTEC graduation day of the academic year 2023, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graciously attended and opened novel “Pilot Plant (N3)” which a small-scale industrial system used to test and validate a process or technology before scaling it up for full-scale production. This Pilot plants serve as a bridge between laboratory research and large-scale manufacturing, allowing engineers and researchers to assess the technical and economic feasibility of a process and refine it in a real-world environment.
This great opportunity, our IST faculty members, Prof. Dr. Poramate Manoonpong—Director of School of Information Science and Technology, VISTEC, Head of BRAIN lab—along with his team:
- Mr. Wasuthorn Ausrivong (Senior Research Engineer),
- Mr. Run Junna (Research Engineer),
- Mr. Kanut Tarapongnivat (Research Engineer),
- Mr. Worameth Nantareekurn (Research Engineer),
showed a robot demonstration and presented our recent work (video 5:15 – 5:56 ).
- HERO: Advanced Hybrid Legged-Wheeled Robot for vessel Inspection, a teleoperation robot for petroleum & gas vessel inspection to reduce risk for human in hazardous enviroment. This project was sponsered by PTTEP,
- IViS: Intelligent Visual-based Object Detection and Adaptive Control Module for Autonomous Drones, enhancing drone capability in handling complex, hardardous industrial tasks. This project was supported by ARV,
- ASSIST: Advanced Perception for Vission-based Multiple Object Detection and Pose Estimation of Lab Assistant Robots. This system eable the robot to robustly detect objects and estimate their poses , thereby allowing it to operate autonomously and work collaboratively with opertor within the laboratory environment.
